2 - THE REVIVAL
Germany began 2 world wars but also gave us Goethe, Austrian director and visionary Max Reinhardt and the revival of Ancient Greek Tragedy. In Greece in 1927, the poet Sikelianos revived the ancient tradition of theatre and the Delphic Festivals.
20th century and the interwar period: Although Greece, after long lasting devastating wars, waves of refugees and economic collapse, is at a very critical juncture, it is trying to recover and redefine its identity with its culture and the creative and multi-talented generation of the 1930s.
