One of the most important theatre movements of the 20th century is the Theatre of the Absurd. Great writers such as Eugene Ionesco, Jean Genet, Harold Pinter and Samuel Beckett are some of the representatives of this movement.
The Irish writer Samuel Beckett, a minimalist and an existentialist has offered great works to Theatre and Literature. Some of these works are: Waiting for Godot, Endgame, Happy Days, Krapp’s Last Tape, Murphy, Molloy, etc.
“WAITING FOR GODOT” By Samuel Beckett
I have the great pleasure to direct this iconic theatre play “Waiting for Godot”. It is now running at the THEATRE OF THE NO, the first English speaking theatre in Athens. It wouuld be our pleasure to see you there.
Show is on till May 13th, 2024.
“Waiting for Godot”: Samuel Beckett through timeless symbols - characters that move between movement and stillness, silence and silence, waiting and anticipation, nothing and everything. . . . Two loners, who depend on each other by waiting for something that does not come, two others who are connected through the authority of the ruled and a child. Multi-layered writing and symbolism that leaves a suffocating freedom to communicate and seek the universal truth of "I am?!" beyond borders and places... Is it a drama? Maybe a comedy? Nothing? The most important theatre play in the 20th century. Nikos Dionysios
